When it works well, it works very well, but it won't work at all on many mobos. Basically, that tells your mobo to keep your fans at minimum operating speeds, rather than ramping up automatically on a factory or custom profile.Īs far as SpeedFan goes, it's a finicky program. If that's the case, then that would explain your fans not ramping up at increased temps. I'm guessing what you're actually looking at there is minimum fan duty cycle, which is typically 40% on most mobos. When you say "set minimum temps to 40", not sure what you're referring to. Here is a good tutorial on AMD CPU temps: Basically, while third-party monitoring (including the MSI software) can give inaccurate readings at various load levels, AOD measures socket temp and thermal margin, or the delta between current core temps and throttling temps. I'm no AMD guru, but from everything I've read AMD OverDrive is the best way to monitor your CPU temps. Here's a screenshot so you can see what I'm talking about, it has been taken with prime95 running. Is there any way to get speedfan working? is it normal for MSI mobos that speedfan is not working? I have seen some other forum posts about this same mobo and few users claiming it's not working for them either, but there wasn't much discution and no solution. Yet the idle temps are what I would expect with TMPIN on 26 and Package on average 23-24Īlso another thing. Is this even possible? Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? If so, could this mean that TMPIN0/CPU in HWmonitor and AIDA64 (and the command center) are actually the core temps and the others are for socket? ![]() Now what confuses me is the fact that the socket temperatures are lower and that is 20 degrees lower than core temperatures. The problems then comes when package/core temperatures goes up faster and much higher than socket temps the MSI command center monitors, and the stupid command center only allows me to set minimum temps to 40, so core temperatures hits 60+ when the socket is at about 42-43 and fans barely accelerate and I am afraid to even try overclocking higher than 4.3Ghz (the max freq I can get with stock voltages). So I checked out the temperatures the command center monitors for CPU (and adjust fan speeds to it) and they are same as TMPIN0 in HWmonitor and CPU temperatures in AIDA64, where package in HWmonitor matches core temperatures in AIDA64. I'm stuck with the MSI Command Center for controlling my fans, as SpeedFan doesn't seem to work on this mobo. Hi, I recently upgraded my motherboard to a MSI 970 gaming and I am a bit confused with the temperatures. ![]()
